Railway paths

Come and experience Durham's railway legacy. The railway paths - former railway lines - are attractive countryside routes that can be used by walkers and runners, wheelchair users, horse-riders and cyclists.

Railway Paths in County Durham

The Derwent Valley Railway Path is fully closed between Hamsterley Mill and Linzford Junction while improvement works are undertaken. The closure is likely to be in place for a number of weeks.

There are designated barbecue areas at both Hardwick Park and Wharton Park. Unauthorised fires and barbecues are not permitted on any other of our countryside sites.
