Consumer advice in County Durham


Consumer advice in County Durham is provided by Citizens' Advice consumer helpline, a telephone-based consumer advice service for a wide range of problems with goods and services.

Citizens' Advice Consumer Helpline on 0808 223 1133, is a government-funded service that works in partnership with councils' trading standards services. It provides clear practical advice for consumers on a range of issues or complaints.

This can be problems with bills, warranty disputes, faulty and dangerous goods or poor workmanship. 

Consumer Rights Act 2015

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, any goods that you buy must match the description, be of satisfactory quality and be fit for purpose. Services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill.

You can call the Citizens' Advice Consumer Helpline for information before buying goods or services, or if you need assistance when problems occur.

If your complaint involves a breach of criminal fair trading law, it may be necessary for Citizens' Advice Consumer Helpline to refer the details to us so that we can assist you further.
