Equipment Advice Service


If you are wanting to purchase or hire equipment to support your independence at home, the Equipment Advice Service can offer free impartial advice and guidance.

We can provide you with advice and information on a range of equipment such as; bath lifts, stairlifts, dressing and personal care aids, kitchen and meal preparation, ramps and mobility equipment, communication aids and more.

Our staff can:

  • provide you with information on equipment
  • help you find equipment from local and online sellers
  • make an appointment for you to visit the Independent Living House
  • refer to other services if appropriate

Please note we do not sell or hire out equipment.

Visit our Independent Living House

You can make an appointment to visit our Independent Living House in Spennymoor where you can try out a range of equipment for your bathroom, toilet, bedroom, kitchen and mobility aids such as rollators.

There are also a range of sensory support products and telecare equipment.
