Other ways to dispose of garden waste

These are also useful options if you have garden waste to get rid of when the service is suspended during the winter.

  • Use a home compost bin: garden waste such as grass cuttings, weeds and old plants are all suitable for composting and compost bins.
  • Take it to one of our household waste recycling centres (tips) (tips).
  • Arrange a bulky waste collection: if you are unable to compost or visit a household waste recycling centre, you can have up to six bags of garden waste removed as bulky waste - there is a charge for this service.

It is not illegal to have a bonfire and burn your garden waste, but it is important you do not cause a nuisance or endanger your neighbours' property.
