Railcards


If you are aged 60 or over, disabled, or you're a young person (16 to 25) or student, apply for a railcard. There's an upfront fee but then you'll be able to get a third off most standard and first class rail travel.

Apply for a Senior Railcard

If you're aged 60 or over you can apply for a Senior Railcard. Proof of age is required.

  • Online: apply online for a Senior Railcard.
  • In person: application forms are available at any staffed railway station ticket office or travel centre
  • By phone: call 08457 484 950 for details of your nearest train company.

Apply for a Disabled Persons Railcard

If you have a disability you may be entitled to a Disabled Persons Railcard. You will need to provide proof of your disability.

  • Online: apply online for a Disabled Persons Railcard.
  • In person: application forms (including eligibility and terms and conditions details) are available from rail stations, travel centres and main post offices
  • By phone: call the Disabled Persons Railcard Office on 0345 605 0525 if you need help to apply - the helpline is open from 7.00am to 10.00pm Monday to Sunday.

Apply for a 16 to 25 (or full time student) Railcard

If you are aged between 16 and 25 or are a full time student you can get a railcard. You will need proof of age or proof of study if you're over 25.

  • Online: apply online for a 16 to 25 (student) railcard
  • In person: you can buy your railcard at any staffed station ticket office and some National Rail-licensed travel agents
  • By phone: call 0844 871 4036 - lines are open between 7.00am and 10.00pm every day, except Christmas Day and calls are charged at the national rate.
