Markets

We currently oversee the management and operation of nine markets across the county. Find out where the markets are and the days and times they are held.

County Durham has a variety of markets that operate throughout the year and offer a range of products. We oversee all of the markets below, however some are managed day to day by external operators.

Trading at a market

To become a trader at one of Durham's markets, contact the operator.

Why trade at a market?

  • It's a low cost retail option compared to purchasing or leasing a premises
  • Network with other traders and learn from one another
  • Benefit from the footfall of local events, high streets and tourism
  • There may be incentives offered for first time traders or business start ups

Do I need a licence to be a market trader?

No, you do not need a licence to have a stall in a market.
