Gender pay gap

Since April 2017 employers in Britain with more than 250 employees are required by law to publish their gender pay gap information every year within twelve months of the relevant snapshot date, which is 31 March for local government.

Our data is published through the government gender pay gap reporting website - see Gov.uk: Search and compare gender pay gap data.

The gender pay gap shows the difference in average pay (mean and median) between men and women in the workforce, expressed relative to men's earnings. This data helps us to understand the size and potential causes of pay gaps and to identify any issues that need to be addressed. Gender pay gap is not the same as equal pay which is defined as pay differences between gender when carrying out jobs of equal value.
