Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards

Some people living in care homes cannot always make their own decisions about where to live or how to be cared for, so they need extra care and protection to ensure they do not suffer harm.

This may mean restricting their freedom to the point of depriving them of their liberty by ways such as preventing them from leaving or monitoring them very closely to keep them safe.

We have a dedicated team of experienced Best Interest Assessors whose job it is to look at individual cases to make sure these arrangements are appropriate. In particular, they will make sure that any restrictions are the minimal necessary and are in place for the shortest possible time. They will work with relatives and other representatives to listen to their views.

If you would like further information please Contact Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
