North East Local Enterprise Partnership (NELEP)

The North East Local Enterprise Partnership, the fourth largest in England, brings together business leaders, universities and elected members of the North East Leadership Board across the same area as the North East Combined Authority.

The local enterprise partnership is a business-led, strategic partnership responsible for promoting and developing economic growth in the area. The North East Local Enterprise Partnership and the North East Combined Authority work together to ensure co-ordination across their range of activities.

The local enterprise partnership board includes 18 representatives from across the private and public sectors. Each of the leaders and the elected Mayor representing the seven councils are members of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership, and the Chair of the enterprise partnership is a member of the Combined Authority. The Combined Authority provides the formal accountability arrangements for the Enterprise Partnership.

The North East Strategic Economic Plan sets out an ambitious vision to strengthen the area's economy and provide more opportunities for businesses and communities. Both the North East Local Enterprise Partnership and the North Combined Authority are committed to a seamless approach to delivering a shared ambition for growth with a clear intention to create more and better jobs.
