Please note that our Modern.Gov system is currently unavailable - this affects all aspects of the democracy/committee section on our website, including Committee papers. We apologise for the inconvenience.

We are aware that there is currently a scam text message being circulated informing people that they have an outstanding Penalty Charge Notice (PCN). Please be aware that we will never send a text message asking you to pay a PCN. If you do receive a parking fine, a sticker with relevant contact details will be placed on your car and/or you will receive a letter.

Controlled Parking Zones and areas

A Controlled Parking Area (CPA) or Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) is an area where special parking restrictions apply.

Controlled parking helps reduce and control the problems of long stay parking by commuters and office workers, which then helps create space for short stay visitors, such as shoppers and tourists as well as residents and their visitors.

The zones/areas have many similar parking restrictions to those found when parking on the streets in other places, and you may need a permit before you can park.

Pay and display bays and permit holder only areas are restricted between certain hours (please refer to signage). Parking is free outside of operational hours and on bank holidays.
