End of Life Care in Care Homes and Domiciliary Care Settings course


This course introduces the role of care home (residential and nursing home settings) and domiciliary care staff in providing end of life care and looking after dying people.

Who the course is for

This course is for all health and social care staff working in care homes and domiciliary care setting who support individuals who are approaching the end of life.

Learning method

The course is an elearning course made available by E-Learning for Healthcare, NHS Health Education England.

It will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. 

What you will learn

The course will enable you to:

  • Identify what is meant by good practice in end of life care. 
  • List the core competencies associated with good end of life care.
  • Recognise the changes that occur as someone approaches death.
  • Identify other potential sources of support.
