News-Response to police dispersal orders
We are aware of Durham Constabulary issuing dispersal orders covering parts of Durham City, Bishop Auckland and Crook to address potential disorder.
We are continuously reviewing the information and intelligence available to us as we seek to ensure our services operate as usual for the public while considering any risk to people's safety.
Crook Civic Centre including Crook Customer Access Point closed slightly early today, while Gala Theatre and Clayport Library in Durham closed at 5pm. All our other sites will continue to be open as per their normal hours although we are keeping this under constant review based on the information we have and the intelligence we receive from police.
Information on any changes to arrangements will be communicated as soon as possible.
We'd like to apologise to anyone who had tickets for tonight's films screenings at Gala. The box office was contacting ticket holders.
We would also like to place on record our thanks to Durham Constabulary for its response to planned disorder in Durham City on Tuesday evening, which meant no incidents of disorder or criminal damage were reported.
Our thoughts remain with those affected by the Southport attacks and we continue to echo calls for unity and not division across our nation.
