Independent Mental Capacity Advocates

The aim of the Independent Mental Capacity Advocate service is to provide independent safeguards for people who lack capacity to make certain important decisions.

The Independent Mental Capacity Advocate (IMCA) is used when the person who lacks capacity has no-one else (other than paid staff) to support or represent them.

You can find details of advocacy services on our Locate - care and support in County Durham website.
