Personal care


This course is elearning and available through the Care Academy. It aims to develop your knowledge and understanding of providing personal care, the activities are linked directly to the Health and Social Care Diploma at level 2.

Who the course is for

This course is for health and social care staff, especially those responsible for providing personal care.

Learning method

The course is an elearning course consisting of seven learning outcomes. It will take you approximately 60 minutes to complete and you must complete all the sections of the course in order to access the test.

What you will learn

The course will help you understand:

  • how to work with individuals to identify their needs and preferences in relation to personal care
  • how to support and individual to carry out personal hygiene activities in ways that maintains comfort, respect and dignity
  • how to encourage active participation in the process
  • be able to provide support for personal care in a safe and hygienic way
