Dementia awareness


This course is eLearning which is available through the Care Academy, this aims to give you the knowledge and understanding of what dementia is, recognising signs and symptoms and enable you to understand the importance of everyone that has dementia is different and unique.

Who the course is for?

This eLearning course is for all Health & Social Care staff, especially those working with individuals who may be at risk of developing or experiencing dementia.

Learning method

The course is an eLearning course consisting of 5 modules, you must complete all modules to access the test at the end of the course, it will take approximately 90 minutes to complete. 

What you will learn

The course will help you:

  • Know what dementia is, recognising signs and symptoms.
  • Understand assessment of capacity and advanced care planning.
  • How an individual can live well with dementia.
  • How to support individuals living with dementia.
  • Understand how dementia may be treated.
  • How to support individuals at the end of their life.
