Critical Medication


This course discusses the importance of critical medication, what is a critical medication and the importance of why a patient must not stop taking a prescribed critical medication unless told to do so by a relevant professional.

Presented by the Intermediate Care Pharmacy Team. 

Entry Requirements 

Care home must care for Intermediate Care patients.

Who the course is for

 All Senior Carers and Nursing staff who manage medication.

Learning method

The course is Face to Face and will take you approximately 30 minutes to complete. Supporting documentation will be given for future reference.

What you will learn

By completing this course, you will:

  • Be able to identify common critical medications
  • Understand why they are important and the potential effects to the patient if they miss dose(s).
  • What to do if a patient does miss a dose(s).
