Barclays Digital Wings training for adult social care staff


The Care Academy are working in partnership with Barclays Digital Eagles to offer access to County Durham social care staff to a platform called Digital Wings. Digital Wings is a platform that offers a range of modules relating to digital skills that aim to increase digital confidence. If you complete the modules suggested, then you will then earn an 'Essential Digital Skills' virtual badge.

Who the course is for

The Care Academy's 'Digital Wings' platform is for social care staff providing care to adults.

Learning method

All learning is made available through the Care Academy's Digital Wings Platform where you will be able to open your own personalised account and you will be able to track your learning and development.

Learning is delivered through short manageable elearning modules. The Care Academy have highlighted some modules that may be useful for you but there are also many other modules available that you can access free of charge.

What you will learn

There are three recommended modules

1. Digital foundation skills

This module is split into three short sections:

  • How to get connected online
  • How to keep yourself safe online
  • Using accessibility technologies

2. Communicating 

This module will support you in effective communication online.

3. Being safe and legal online

This module is split into six short sections:

  • Fraud and Scams
  • Managing passwords
  • Keeping your device safe
  • Using technology to keep you safe
  • Protecting your data
  • Basics of email

Course benefits

Completing the modules highlighted should improve your digital confidence and give you an increased knowledge in these areas. The modules can be completed at a time convenient to you and at your own pace. You may also then choose to progress to some other module topics that you are interested in from the wide range available.

On completion of the recommended modules, you will also receive an 'Essential Digital Skills' virtual badge which can count towards your continuing professional development (CPD)

How to Join

To join you will need to open an account on the Care Academy's Digital Wings Platform.

Follow Barclay's Digital Wings: register and enter the appropriate code for adult social care direct care and support staff 'CAACS' when prompted, followed by your details.
