We have collated a list of training opportunities for Cree groups to access to support delivery. The training courses offer staff/volunteers opportunities to increase their knowledge and skills in health and community related subjects relevant to the voluntary and community sector.

Making Every Contact Count (MECC)

 

MECC is an approach to behaviour change that utilises the millions of day-to-day interactions that organisations and individuals have with people to support them to make positive changes to their physical and mental health and wellbeing. The course will cover:

  • How to have a conversation
  • The 4 A's of MECC (Ask, Assess, Advise, Act)
  • Key topics and sources of support (Smoking, alcohol, financial awareness, healthy eating, drugs, mental health, physical activity and domestic abuse)
  • Supporting staff/volunteers own health and wellbeing
  • Available support

Wellbeing for Life - Suicide Awareness

 

A workshop to enable people to become more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide by opening up conversations. This workshop is suitable for anyone who might come into contact with someone experiencing thoughts of suicide

Zero Suicide Alliance

 

An online training session which takes approximately 20 minutes. The session aims to give you the skills and confidence to help someone considering suicide. It focuses on breaking stigma and encouraging conversations.

If U Care Share - Suicide Training on Prevention (STOP)

STOP utilises our knowledge and experience to educate people on how we can best support people that have lost someone to suicide, whilst also looking at the signs that someone may be thinking about taking their own life.
