Weardale AAP priorities

Weardale Action Partnership (WAP) would normally set its priorities every two years. Over the past two years, WAP has been responding to the impact of coronavirus and its priority has been to focus on community recovery.

In early 2022, local residents were asked to respond to a survey and the WAP's priorities have now been refreshed.

Current priorities

The survey completed earlier this year showed that people were happy to continue under the general theme of Covid recovery which will encompass:

  • Community Recovery
  • Culture and Tourism
  • Community Resilience
  • Towns and Villages

As the WAP also has funding to support the Council's 'Towns and Villages' Programme, the themes that come under this are also being considered by the AAP.

  • Local environmental improvements
  • Support to local businesses and attracting new businesses to an area
  • Attracting new people and tourists to an area
  • Public transport and disability access
  • Walking and cycling
  • IT connectivity
  • Public safety
  • Improving community buildings

Priority Task Groups

We take actions on issues linked to our priorities. To do this, we have priority task groups. These groups are made up of board and forum members and representatives from relevant partner organisations.

At task group meetings, we identify and discuss issues linked to our priorities, and we consider project ideas and requests for funding linked to these issues. If we want to progress any project ideas, we then send them to the board for approval.

If you're interested in getting involved with one of the task and finish groups or would like to discuss an idea you may have for a project, Contact Area Action Partnership - Weardale.
