Terms and conditions when booking Education Durham training courses


Courses will be delivered both face to face and online, with the majority of the virtual sessions being held through Microsoft Teams. Joining instructions will be sent to you, using the email address supplied at the time of booking.

  • Training is delivered free of charge for Private Voluntary and Independent (PVI) early years practitioners within our authority area, unless otherwise stated in the course outline. Please see cancellation policy charges for non-attendance below.
  • You will receive an email confirming your allocation of place, along with joining instructions or venue details.
  • Places are limited to one per setting for oversubscribed courses.
  • Supply cover is not paid for staff attending courses.

Useful information for training delivered via the Teams platform

  • For the best user experience, we recommend using the Microsoft Teams application on a Windows computer. You can download the Microsoft Teams application to your Windows laptop at Microsoft Teams download. If using a smartphone or tablet, download the Microsoft Teams app from your app store.
  • If accessing through a web browser, we recommend using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Please ensure your browser is up to date as out of date browsers can limit functionality.

Bookings

To book a place on any of the courses listed, please follow the booking link buttons within the directory. Please note that we are unable to take course bookings over the telephone.

If you enrol on a course and there is a place available, you will be sent information, meeting links instructions and any applicable resources to the email address you supplied at the time of booking.

Where a course is over-subscribed, we will advise you of this and place you on a waiting list. You will be notified via the email address you supplied at the time of booking should a place become available, however this may be at short notice.

For over-subscribed courses we will repeat the course again in the next terms' directory.

In some cases, online training courses will be recorded and shared with other course participants for information (when this occurs it will be stated at the beginning of the course). Please note that the email address provided at the point of booking, may be visible to other participants on virtual platforms. 

There may be a charge for participants working in schools on some courses.

Cancellation policy and charges

In order to continue to offer free training to the early years sector, we must impose a cancellation policy and non-attendance charges. Notification and an invoice for these charges will be forwarded to the manager of the setting.

  • All cancellations must be made by email - Contact early years.
  • Non-attendance will be charged at £55 per person.
  • In the unlikely event we may need to cancel a course we will contact you by the email you supplied at the time of booking.
  • If the course is cancelled at very short notice, we will attempt to contact the setting directly.
