Report a hygiene concern about a food business
If you have a complaint about a food business, we may be able to investigate it if there is a risk to public health.
We investigate complaints about food premises where there is poor food handling practices and when food purchased there is a potential public health risk. For example, where there are:
- poor levels of hygiene
- dirty conditions
- reports of pests (for example rate, mice, cockroaches) on the premises
- build up of rubbish
- poor food handling
Where there is no risk to the public, you may be able to resolve this by speaking directly to the owner of the business. If your complaint is about the food purchased there, see Make a food complaint.
