Hospital transport services

Find out about travel options for patients who have trouble getting to health appointments.

Patient Transport Service is run by the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS). It provides pre-planned non-emergency transport for patients who have a medical condition that would prevent them from travelling to a treatment centre by any other means, or who require the skills of an ambulance care assistant during the journey.
Help to Health is a pre-bookable countywide volunteer driver service, operated by charities Supportive and Volunteering Matters, on behalf of us and County Durham's clinical commissioning groups. It helps patients attend hospital and other health appointments.

Friends of Darlington Memorial Hospital provide a volunteer driver scheme for patients who have difficulty getting to and from the hospital - call 01325 743 866.

Link2 Dial-a-Ride bus service is a pre-bookable bus service for people making journeys (up to five miles) where there is no other suitable bus, for example in rural areas where bus services may be limited, or those unable to access mainstream public transport due to mobility issues.
