Bishop Auckland Cemetery

This page has information about Bishop Auckland Cemetery.

Dating back to 1884 Bishop Auckland Town Cemetery, near the town's Salisbury Place and Woodlands Road, is a 7.3 hectare burial ground containing a cemetery lodge and chapel.

Recently the cemetery has suffered from vandalism and we have worked with the community, councillors and Durham Police in an effort to prevent such anti-social behaviour.

Do you have information about these crimes? Contact Durham Police on 101.

Improvement works and security

Since the beginning of 2017 alone a range of work has been carried out at the cemetery to try and repair or improve the site.

This includes new chain-link, post and rail, and wrought iron fencing; road resurfacing; new security chains; removal of large bushes; and several repairs to the cemetery's water taps.
