Support to find social care opportunities outside of County Durham


There are a number of agencies who can support people into social care across the region.

Please find below details of support in other areas.


Middlesbrough Community Learning

To promote jobs roles within the health and social care sector, Middlesbrough Community Learning (part of Middlesbrough Council) is running a short introductory programme to prepare local people for local jobs. This short course takes place every three weeks from our Multi Media Exchange Skills Centre, opposite Jobcentre Plus, on Corporation Road, Middlesbrough. 


Stockton Riverside College: Stockton Care Academy

Deliver a course will help to prepare you for work in Health, Social or Childcare settings with a guaranteed job interview on successful completion of the course.


South Tyneside Care Academy

Deliver a range of courses from entry level right through to senior leadership and management qualifications to help you find your perfect job in social care.


Sunderland - Foundation of Light: New Health and Social Care Academy offers new opportunities

The Helen McArdle Health and Social Care Academy helps young people develop the skills and knowledge needed to work in the care sector, supporting them to gain practical skills in preparation for employment or progression into further education and training.

The Academy delivers nationally recognised qualifications, including BTEC Award in Introductory Health and Social Care Level 1 and provides support to improve numeracy and literacy skills 


Newcastle Care Academy

Newcastle Care Academy provides a detailed insight into life working in adult social care as a care worker, so that you can find out if it is the career for you.

It provides you with a free Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and at least one guaranteed interview with a care provider that has vacancies.


Darlington Academy

Darlington Academy is a step-by step approach to supporting our people across Children's and Adults services.

Steps 1 to 5 span to workforce, from being a student or volunteer to senior and director level colleagues, from support staff to qualified Social Workers.

Our Community Academy links with people of all ages, and provides advice and opportunities for personal and professional development.


North Tyneside Care Academy

North Tyneside Care Academy is a platform for anyone looking for, or already working in care in North Tyneside.  


Gateshead Health and Care Academy

Gateshead Health and Care Academy offers access to nationally recognised professional qualifications as well as training and job opportunities in local health and care sector.
