Namaste care
Delivered in partnership with the NHS this course will discuss some underpinning skills and share understanding about the needs of people in the late stages of dementia in terms of approach, communication, and sensory based needs. Improving end of life care and quality of life for people living with advanced dementia and other conditions is high on the health and social care agenda.
Namaste Care is a loving and gentle, sensory approach which has been shown to have benefits both for the person living with dementia, their family but also it significantly boosts staff morale and job satisfaction.
Who the course is for
This course is suitable for those working in the care profession or looking into a career in that field. It is also useful for unpaid carers and family carers.
Learning method
The course is blended, there is an online presentation with information that can be used to study the four modules of namaste. You will then attend a 2 hour virtual Teams session with a Namaste trainer where you will review the learning and allow staff to ask questions, share ideas and think about how to implement the approach. After the virtual session you will complete a short multiple choice online assessment.
Please note you will be expected to have watched the online presentation before attending the virtual session.
