Falls Prevention training (care homes)
Delivered in partnership with County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust this virtual course is designed for all care home staff and will provide advice and information on identifying fall risk factors and how to reduce falls for your residents.
It aims to provide you with knowledge in preventing falls for older people to help reduce admissions to hospital, reduce visits to Accident and Emergency, reduce injuries that are sustained from falls and promote safe mobility.
Who the course is for
This course is for all care home staff who work in health and social care.
Learning methods
The course is delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams by the Community Falls Team, on completion of the training sessions you will receive a certificate of attendance.
It is one session over approximately 1 hour 30 minutes allowing time for questions that may arise during the session, you will complete an interactive quiz which participants will require access to a smart phone.
What you will learn
By completing this course, you will understand:
- how to prevent falls in older people
- risks that can contribute to falls
- methods to reduce falls risks
- how to reduce hospital admissions, reduce visits to hospital and reduce injuries sustained from falls promoting safe mobility
