Published August 17, 2023 11.31am

Students across County Durham are being praised for their hard work and dedication after receiving their grades on A level results day.

In the first year that the qualifications have returned to pre-pandemic grading, we are commending pupils across the county for their results.

In County Durham, the average grade achieved at A level this year is B-. The average grade for Applied General qualifications is Distinction, and the average for Tech Level qualifications is Distinction-.

Students who did not receive the grades they hoped for and those looking for careers advice, jobs, training or further learning, can find out about support from us through DurhamWorks or our social media channels, @durhamworks on Facebook or through Twitter at @WorksDurham

Great achievement

Cllr Ted Henderson, our Cabinet member for children and young people's services said: "We are incredibly proud of everyone in the county who has received their A level results today.

"We know that this year has been challenging for pupils going back to pre-pandemic grading, but they deserve great credit for their dedication to their studies to achieve their results.

"We are also grateful to all education providers for their commitment to the county's children and young people and for supporting them through this time.

"Whatever grades you receive today, please be assured that there are many opportunities for you to follow your dreams in County Durham and there is lots of support available."

The mental health and wellbeing community Kooth is offering support to young people via its website and social media channels, @KoothUK on Facebook or @Kooth_UK on Instagram.
